Women in Tech

Women in Tech; Networkers Technology @ Victoria University (UofT)

Where: Victoria College, 73 Queen's Park Crescent

When: 5:30pm

Summary

Networkers Technology is partnering with Victoria University and the University of Toronto to present Women in Tech, an evening of discussion, demonstration, and networking on February. The event’s focus is to shed light on the ranging and expansive career opportunities for women in technology in 2018.

Technology offers an incredible amount of opportunity for those entering the job market, but getting in can be half the battle. Women are drastically underrepresented in the industry, yet many who enter the space can find remarkable success. That’s why organizations like ours, with vast networks seeking to motivate female applicants, are crucial for making otherwise out-of-reach connections. We are excited to bring our client networks and a panel of industry leaders to discuss and demonstrate the impact women can make in a rapidly expanding career space.

Speakers

Discussion Panel – Empathy Analytics Demonstration

  • Lana Novikova – CEO, Heartbeat.ai, and SheEO Advocate
  • Yaa Otchere – Toronto Chapter and Programming Lead, Canada Learning Code (prev. Ladies Learning Code)
  • Stephanie Nguyen – Director, Women Who Code (Toronto)

Speakers

  • Yolande Doan – Director, Mocatta and Foreign Exchange, Scotiabank Global Wholesale and Wealth Technology
  • Andrea Niles-Day – IT Portfolio Planning and Governance, RBC Capital Markets
  • Sladjana Jovanovic – VP, Online Channel Technology, TD Bank

Demonstration (Heartbeat.ai)

Working closely with Heartbeat.ai, our speakers, and our wider female network, the evening will feature a demonstration using Heartbeat’s empathy analytics platform. Based on input from our network surrounding opportunities, growth, and potential challenges for women in technology, Heartbeat.ai will compile a survey to be carried out during the event arrivals. The data collected will generate an empathy analytics infographic (highlighting primary and secondary emotional survey feedback) for Lana, Yaa and Stephanie to reference during their panel discussion.
